Biography
A Little Bit About me that I hope inspires you...
- As far back as I can remember, I have sought out challenges and thrived on competition
- As a child, I remember looking through bodybuilding magazines and appreciating the muscular physics. I grew up attracted to extreme sports, sports that required dedication and will power to be successful.
- In my teens, I struggled with body image and used food as a drug. This developed into an eating disorder and I was diagnosed with bulimia. With the encouragement of a sister who loves me, I spent time in the hospital under the care of a psychiatrist and began to seek out a lifestyle that was not destructive. With much support and the grace of God, I have learned to live in a healthier way. I now know that food is a valuable and necessary tool that I must depend on to be a fit and healthy individual.
- In 1991, I met and soon after married the love of my life. Damian and I have been together for 16 years and have been blessed with four healthy, rambunctious boys: Tanner(13), Branden(12), Spencer(10), and Prestin(6). As a family, we stay active. Damian is an avid mountain biker- hockey player, and my boys play all sorts of sports with an emphasis on ice hockey.
- Throughout my childbearing years, I could be found with a child in a pack on my back and another in a buggy running, walking, hiking...if I could do it, I did it. I very much enjoyed running stairs with 2, 3 and even 4 little ones... the extra weight on my back was a bonus. Adventure racing seemed a natural choice in 2002 and my team members and I placed first in our division two years in a row
- I entered my first Figure Competition in 2003 and took home a first place finish. I have continued to compete in two shows a year since then.
- I competed at the National Level in 2006. I look forward to returning to a National Level competition at the end of June in Edmonton.
- Being fit has been a life saving strategy for me. I am very passionate about staying in shape and love how strong minded and confident I feel as a result.
I hope to inspire other females and mothers to take some time for them. When you do something for yourself, you will be a better mother.
